The Katsina Government has rewarded a woman identified as Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama with ₦500,000 for her integrity in returning ₦748,320 to the state.
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) understands that Yanmama reportedly returned the said amount of money after it was paid into her account for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Program within the state.
Following her kind gesture, Dr. Mudassir Nasir, the Executive Director of the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency in return rewarded Yanmama on Tuesday.
Explaining the event, Nasir stated: “She informed us that she received a notification regarding a payment intended for vendors supplying free meals to primary school students.
“The woman decided to come to our office because she was not on the register for vendors who provide food for our pupils and she was not part of such a programme.
“We requested for her bank statement and the office of the auditor-general verified that she was telling the truth.
“Therefore, Governor Dikko Radda directed that she should be appreciated with N500,000, honoured with a commendation letter and offer to participate in the next school feeding programme.”
Nasir expressed that Radda appreciated the woman’s integrity and urged others to follow her example.
In his address, the state’s Auditor-General, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulƙadir, praised the woman, asserting that she merited greater recognition.
In response, Abdulkadir-Yanmama stated, “I realized that I needed to return the money as it was not mine.”
Abdulkadir-Yanmama also extended her gratitude to the governor and the KASIPA management for the support, recognition, and encouragement they provided to her.
