Popular social media influencer Martins Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan has clarified the controversy surrounding his NGO’s missing funds.
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) recalls that VDM had via his social media account opened up about the hacking of the organization’s account, alleging that over N180 million was carted away.
Intially, the self-acclaimed activist’s claim sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some questioning the authenticity of the incident.
Critics doubted the existence of such a large sum in the NGO’s account, while supporters urged patience as investigations unfolded.
In a follow-up video captioned, “The conclusion of the missing 180 million naira from my NGO account the investigation has ended”, the influencer lambasted Nigerians who believed that the funds were missing without verifying the claims.
VDM further reassured his followers saying: “No money is missing; my funds are secure”. He further maintained that the missing 180 million was a stunt to teach Nigerians a lesson.
While expressing his disappointment at the eagerness with which some people reacted to the news, VDM recalled how he instructed his website manager to temporarily take down the site as a way to engage with those who were quick to judge without seeking the full story.
“It’s quite disheartening to see the excitement around negative news,” he added.
Recall that on December 29, Verydarkman announced that his team had successfully recovered ₦78 million so far from the alleged missing funds.
To address the remainder of the missing funds, he claimed that he and his team would be traveling to Ghana to further investigate the matter and identify those involved in organizing the hack. He also emphasized the ongoing review of his NGO’s website to ensure security.
