A Nigerian father, Monday Elela, who was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his 14-year-old son, Tope has disclosed the reason for taking such an action.
TheNewsGuru reports that Elela was amongst the 25 suspects paraded in Akure, the state capital, by the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, for various crimes, including murder, cultism and breaking and stealing.
The police commissioner, disclosed that Elela, during interrogation, said he and his wife killed their son and buried him in a shallow grave at Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state.
The Police added that while the father was arrested, his wife escaped from the town.
The police commissioner said: “On the 30th of December (2024), the police received an anonymous call that one Elela Monday living in Ajowa Akoko killed his 14 years-old-son named Tope Elela and buried him in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind his house.
“Suspect was arrested and during interrogation said the boy was always involved in criminal activities and was embarrassing him.
“So, in order to put a stop to the disgrace, he and his wife decided to kill the boy.”
Elela said he did not know that the boy would die when he beat him in the night after he escaped from the custody of the State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps.
The father of seven said his deceased son was the black sheep of the family and was embarrassing him as a result of his criminal activities.
He said he buried the boy under a banana tree after his lifeless body was discovered early in the morning by his siblings.
