They pointed guns at us – Skales narrates scary encounter with Nigerian police

Nigerian singer Skales, whose real name is Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, has taken to social media to call out the Nigerian Police Force following a recent altercation.

On December 4th, 2024, the singer, via the microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter, recounted an ugly incident which occurred around the Magodo area of Lagos while on his way for an interview at City FM.

Sharing the experience, he wrote: “Nigerian police will not stop being a joke …so yesterday the Nigerian police under the bridge close to magodo as if you’re going to fela shrine/agidingbi stopped us on our way to city fm last night & displayed plenty madness of pointing guns at us as if we were criminals after they finished their usual b.s.”

The singer disclosed that the officers at some point requested ‘Christmas money‘ from him, and after he refused, they delayed him and threatened to search his vehicle.

He continued saying, “They now asked for money for Christmas then I said I swear I’m not giving and we are late for an interview … they said a lot of rubbish .. that they would delay us and search us … and I said my level of hatred for this joke called Nigerian police force will not let me want to ever be at your mercy so we dropped for them to search.”

He added that the police officers found bundles of cash, and threatened to show him ‘pepper’ for refusing to give them.

“This stupid Nigerian police men saw bundles of cash and started saying ok so you get money you no want give us we go show you today. I laughed and said you no go like public embarrassment my guy..  after they searched and saw nothing. they asked for papers also.. that too was good baba come they say God save you .. we been wan show you pepper … Nigerian police force e no go better for una … Nigerian police I will never respect those fools.. useless people na only to stop Benz una sabi when yawa gas una go gbes .. foolish idiots,” he concluded.
