Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has accused Rivers State Governor, Similanayi Fubara, of attempting to make a mess of the judiciary.
Henzodaily reports that Okocha, in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt on Sunday, alleged that the governor was sponsoring some of the court cases pending against the state APC.
Okocha urged Fubar to refrain from meddling in the affairs of the party in the state or face the wrath of God.
The APC chieftain claimed that Fubara no longer belongs to any political party and wondered why he could not use his powers to influence the PDP rather than interfering with the operations of the APC in the state.
He said, “I pray for him (Fubara) that he changes his style, otherwise, the wrath of God might descend.
“All this bragado he is navigating around APC, he would have used it to register himself. I thought he would have used all his powers as governor, all this influence to put himself back into the PDP. He is not a member of any political party.
“I can tell you if there is any election in the state, he has no party because the party that would have sponsored him for the election, that is the PDP will never present him because he is not their member. Now he is in the business of trying to divide and rule and make a mess of the entire judiciary.”
Reacting, the Special Adviser to Fubara on Electronic Media, Jerry Omatsogunwa, said the governor is too busy to meddle in the affairs of the APC, stressing that the Governor cannot in any way influence the judiciary against the party.
He said the governor is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an active member of the PDP Governors’ Forum and has been attending their meetings.
Omatsogunwa advised Okocha to obey court orders and stop blaming the governor for his party’s woes in the state.
