Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, recently visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, North East, known as ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Henzodaily reports that Ndume’s visit followed the January 4 Boko Haram attack on Sabon Gari village in Damboa Local Government Area, where lives were lost and many were injured.
During his visit, the Senator sympathized with the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those wounded.
The former Senate Leader also commended the military for their relentless efforts in combating insurgency and protecting lives and property.
The Defence Headquarters had earlier reported that over 34 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralized during the Sabon Gari attack, though the incident claimed the lives of six soldiers.
Persistent insecurity in Southern Borno—particularly in areas like Mandara Mountain, Damboa, and Askira/Uba—has led Senator Ndume to intensify his collaboration with military leadership to seek lasting solutions.
Senator Ndume held a private meeting with Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theater Commander of ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ to discuss recent security breaches, including attacks in Kauji, Wajirko, and Sabon Gari.
During the meeting, he praised the troops’ resilience and sacrifices, stating, “I deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of our officers and soldiers in ensuring the safety of our communities. Your resilience is commendable, and we will continue to stand by you.”
The Senator also visited victims of the Sabon Gari attack, offering both moral and financial assistance to help them rebuild their lives.
