The Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, has called on the Senate to prevail on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to halt the planned demolition of Ogbebor Estate.
Henzodaily reported that Wike was accused of planning to demolish the estate reportedly belonging to the first officer commissioned into the Nigeria Army, Colonel Paul Osa Ogbebor (rtd).
During plenary, Senator Natasha, called on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to stop Wike from carrying out the planned demolition.
She stated that Ogbebor Estate did not fall under the purview of the reason given by FCT administration for mass demolition.
The Kogi Central Senator noted that families and children would be rendered homeless if the demolition was allowed to go on.
“My point of order is on Order 1b, it has to do with the ongoing demolition of estate owned by Paul Osa Ogbebor in Abuja that the Minister of FCT has recently ordered the demolition of the estate.
“We have seen on social media and on the news the cries of the residents of that estate. We will appreciate if you can quickly grant this prayer.
“We urge the FCT administration to halt the ongoing demolition of the said property as it does not fall within the purview of the said reason for the mass demolition being carried on presently,” she said.
She further urged Akpabio to ensure Wike halted the demolition until the Senate finishes looking into the issue.
