Former Cameroon national team coach Denis Lavagne has faulted the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) not to shortlist Egypt’s Mohamed Salah for the African Player of the Year Award.
Recall that CAF shortlisted Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman, South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra, and Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy as the contenders for the award.

However, Lavagne, while reacting to it, told Foot Africa that the Liverpool star fully deserves the trophy for best African Player of the Year.
“Even though he was not shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), I think that the Egyptian Mohamed Salah fully deserves the trophy for best African Player of the Year, ” Lavagne stated.
“He has done great things with Liverpool and with the Pharaohs. In my opinion, he is currently the best African player.”
