The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of a woman in an accident involving an articulated truck and a commercial bus at Eleyele Roundabout, Ibadan, on Wednesday.

The spokesperson, FRSC, Oyo Sector Command, Mr Mayowa Odewo, disclosed that the accident left five other persons, made up of four female adults and a male adult, injured.

He noted the articulated truck, marked DTN 328 XC, lost control and rammed into a Toyota bus, marked NRK 296 XC, at a nearby motor park in Eleyele market.

Odewo explained that the injured victims had been taken to a private hospital and the University College Hospital (UCH) for treatment, while the dead body was deposited at a morgue.

The spokesperson said roadside traders, many of which scampered for safety, had previously been warned about the dangers of transacting their businesses by the roadside.

“We have been sensitising people on dangers inherent in trading by the roadside before this sad incident, and we will intensify efforts to forestall future occurrence,” he said.
