Police Take Over Rivers PDP Secretariat Amid Leadership Crisis

The Rivers State Police Command on Thursday deployed a tactical unit to take control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, amidst ongoing leadership disputes within the party.

The special squad blocked the main entrance to the secretariat with a patrol van and restricted access to the premises. The blockade also disrupted traffic flow along the busy Aba Road, forcing motorists to navigate a single lane.

Henzodaily reports that the development follows the appointment of Nname Robinson Ewor as Acting Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State.

Ewor’s emergence came after a Rivers State High Court nullified the tenure of Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee.

Addressing party members, Ewor declared that Chukwuemeka is no longer recognized as the state chairman of the PDP.

“Chukwuemeka can now focus on his role as Chairman of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI),” Ewor said, while emphasizing that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the leader of the PDP in Rivers State by virtue of his office.

Ewor also dismissed any suggestions that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, still holds leadership influence within the state PDP.

“Let it be clear: Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the leader of the PDP in Rivers State. Any claims otherwise should be disregarded,” Ewor said.
