Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has called out the Nigerian police for refusing to release controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, despite an order from a federal high court order.
TheNewGuru.com(TNG) reports that Darlington was granted bail after spending nearly a month in police custody. The legal counsel for popular controversial rapper Stan Alieke, announced the development in an Instagram Story on Monday, saying, “Apki has been granted bail by the court,” without providing further detail
Adeyanju also posted on X that the court ordered Darlington’s arraignment within 48 hours or his release on bail.
However, Alieke later revealed that Darlington was never arraigned.
In an X post on Thursday, Adeyanju accused the Nigerian police of defying the court’s directive, describing it as a blatant “disrespect to the judiciary”.
“The Nigerian Police have refused to release Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI despite the explicit order of the Federal High Court to do so. This is the highest form of disrespect to the judiciary,” he wrote.
