Plateau United Lost To Lobi Due To Loss Of Concentration –Mangut

Plateau United Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has lamented that a loss of concentration towards the closing stages of the first half cost his team valuable points against Lobi Stars in their NPFL matchday 17 fixture at the Lafia City Stadium, Completesports.com reports.

Mangut, who had hoped for victory in the North Central Derby to compensate for his team’s earlier home defeat to Niger Tornadoes on matchday three, expressed disappointment after the clash.

“We didn’t quite get it right towards the end of the first half,” the former Enugu Rangers assistant coach admitted.

“We managed the pressure. We knew that Lobi Stars are badly positioned on the table and would do everything to win.

“But we are also not comfortable in our position. We fought back, but a momentary loss of concentration towards the end of the first half cost us dearly as we conceded a late goal.

“We came back in the second half, mounting so much pressure and also tried to resist them, but it seemed a little too late.

“The game was very open for both teams. At the end of the day, they held on to their goal, which gave them the maximum points.”

Plateau United now sit 16th on the standings with 18 points and will host Enyimba in a matchday 18 fixture this weekend.

Mangut remains cautiously optimistic, insisting it is victory or nothing for his side against the People’s Elephant.

Mangut added: “We’ve no option but to take every game as it comes. The Enyimba game is next. It’s a match we must take with all seriousness to ensure we win and claim the maximum three points.

“And then we will go in search of the points we lost at home.”
