The national vice-chairman, South-South of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Osi Orbih has summoned a meeting of the zonal executive to sharpen discussions for the forthcoming zonal congress of the party.
The zonal congress is expected to also throw up a new executive for the party in the South-South.
A statement issued by Orbih said that besides the zonal congress, other issues pertaining to the state of the party are expected to be discussed at the zonal executive meeting.
“In accordance with Article 27(3) of the Constitution of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), 2017 as amended, Notice is hereby given to all members of the South South Zonal Executive Committee of the Party that a meeting of the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) will take place on Saturday, 15th February 2025,” Orbih said in the statement.
According to him, the meeting which will take place at View Point Hotel, Benin City, Edo State, Orbih said will focus on the zonal congress and relevant matters concerning the party in the region.
“Take further notice that the agenda of the meeting will cover discussions on the 2025 Zonal Elective Congress along with other relevant matters concerning the Party and the zone,” Orbih said without giving specifics on the issues to be discussed.
The South-South remains the strongest fortress of the PDP with four of the six states in the zone under the control of the zone.
Chief Orbih concluded the statement with an injunction that attendance at the meeting will be dictated by Article 27(1) of the Party’s Constitution.
