The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has slammed those mocking Governor Monday Okpebholo over his struggles to pronounce the ₦605 Billion Budget Figure.
Henzodaily reported that the governor presented an estimated ₦605 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year to the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
During the presentation of the Appropriation Bill, Governor Okpebholo stumbled while attempting to announce the ₦605 billion figure.
Despite the momentary lapse, he continued his speech, delivering key highlights of the proposal.
The video, which made rounds online, generated mockery from many Nigerians.
However, Tenebe, in a video shared online, claimed Okpebholo’s mistakes were due to his innocence, unlike the former Govenor, Godwin Obaseki.
According to the APC chieftain, Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the last election, Asue Ighodalo, would not have made such a mistake because they have stolen billions.

Meanwhile, Okpebholo explained that ₦223 billion (37%) of the total budget would be allocated to recurrent expenditure, while the remaining ₦381 billion (63%) would be channelled toward capital projects aimed at driving economic growth and development in the state.
“This budget is a product of extensive consultations and embodies my administration’s commitment to achieving its five-point agenda: security, infrastructural development, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education,” Okpebholo stated.
A key highlight of the budget is the allocation of ₦162 billion for road infrastructure.
