Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has described Ademola Lookman’s crowning glory as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year as a well-deserved victory that will ignite positive momentum for Nigerian sports.
The DG also also hailed both the Super Falcons Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the goalkeeper of the year award and the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s Team of the year award.
In spite of his tight schedules, Honourable Olopade was live at the Awards in Marrakech, Morocco to support the 27-year old Super Eagles and Atalanta forward.
“The triumph of both Lookman and Nnadozie serve as an inspiration for Nigerian athletes and aligns with the nation’s renewed vision for sports development under the current administration,” Olopade stated.
“It was a good night for Nigerian football in general with our male and female players winning individual awards and the women national team also winning the best women team of the year
“Lookman’s win cannot be questioned, as he rose above all his peers on the continent.”
Olopade emphasised that Lookman’s achievement is a reflection of hard work, consistency, and the limitless potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.
He added: “Nnadozie’s feat has once again motivated the Commission to pay more attention to the empowerment of more women participation in Sports”.
Olopade added that such wins are vital for boosting morale and inspiring a new generation of talents as Nigeria charts a transformative path in sports administration.
