Shooting Stars suffered defeat for the first time in nine league outings after going down 2-0 against Kwara United in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Kabiru Muhammed gave the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute, while Ojifinni Abdullahi added the second three minutes before the half hour mark.
Shooting Stars remain in second position despite the defeat, eight points adrift leaders Remo Stars.
At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Bendel Insurance defeated Enyimba 1-0.
Enyimba were reduced to 10-men in the 21st minute after Innocent Gabriel was sent off for harshly bringing down Kayode Oke.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars recorded a 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Rabiu Ali gave Kano Pillars the lead from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
The lead lasted four minutes before Al-Amin Umar restored parity for El-kanemi Warriors from another penalty.
Rashid Alasan scored the winning goal Pillars on the dot of 90 minutes.
