Northern Elders Forum Appoints New Spokesman

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has named Professor Abubakar Jika Jiddere as its new spokesperson.

Henzodaily reports that the appointment was approved by the Forum’s Convener and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Ango Abdullahi, in recognition of Professor Jiddere’s expertise and commitment to advancing the interests of Northern Nigeria.

In a statement released by the Chairman of NEF’s Management Board, Al-Amin Daggash, the Forum praised Professor Jiddere as a distinguished academic with a strong record of excellence and dedication.

Born in Jalingo, Taraba State, in 1965, Professor Jiddere boasts an impressive academic journey:
Primary Education: Muhammadu Nya Primary School, Jalingo
Secondary Education: Marmara Government Secondary School, Wukari (1979–1984)
Tertiary Education:
College of Preliminary Studies, Yola (1984–1986)
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano (1986–1989)
Master’s in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the University of Jos (1990–1993)
PhD in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano

Professor Jiddere began his academic career in 1993 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Bayero University, Kano, where he now serves as a Professor of International Relations.

He also completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu (1989–1990).

Jiddere replaces Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, who now serves as Director of NGOs and CSOs at the Northern Elders Forum.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Jiddere expressed gratitude for the appointment, pledging his dedication to the Forum’s mission of advocating for Northern Nigeria while fostering national unity and development.

“I humbly accept my new appointment as the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum,” Jiddere said. “This Forum is a non-partisan organization committed to articulating the collective interests of Northern Nigeria and promoting national development. I pray for Allah’s guidance and protection throughout my tenure.”

The Northern Elders Forum reaffirmed its non-partisan stance and its commitment to collaboration with other regions for the progress of Nigeria.
