The Arewa Consultative Forum, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and other stakeholders attacked the Presidency for stating that President Bola Tinubu would stay in power till 2031. Instead of obsessing over the 2027 election, the ACF admonished the Tinubu administration to focus on delivering good governance to Nigerians.

Vanguard: A Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, granted a N50 million bail to human rights lawyer and activist, Mr Dele Farotimi, over an alleged 12-count cybercrime charge preferred against him by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The Guardian: Borno State has been identified as having the highest number of internally displaced households in Nigeria, according to a survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The survey, released yesterday, shows that Borno accounts for 206,753 out of the national total of 251,082 internally displaced households. The report also estimates that Nigeria is home to 1,134,828 internally displaced persons (IDPs).

ThisDay: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, said the return of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Ghana and President John Mahama to power, was a sign that the oppressive rule of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) would end by 2027.

The Nation: Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun yesterday prescribed the solution to conflicting rulings by judges of courts of coordinate jurisdiction. Specking specifically about the Court of Appeal where panels have delivered conflicting judgments on the same issue, the CJN advocated conferences by the justices.

Daily Trust: The South-East Caucus in the Senate has joined other stakeholders in the country calling for wider consultations on the controversial tax reform bills. The leader of the caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA, Abia South), disclosed this to newsmen after a closed-door meeting of senators from the region, held in his office at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
