A late night fire on Tuesday razed down an unspecified number of shops at Alaba Rago, located in the Ojo area of Lagos State.
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) gathered that several millions of Naira worth of goods was destroyed after the fire engulfed some shops in the market as the owners and sympathizers watched helplessly.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Wednesday morning confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that Lagos agency received a distress call regarding the fire at 10:23 p.m. He stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
“Upon arrival of the Agency’s Dolphin Response Team at the incident scene, it was discovered that some shanty shops were engulfed in fire,” he said.
“Further investigations at the incident scene had not yet ascertained the cause of the fire as at the time of reporting,” he added.
However, the swift intervention of LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured that the fire was contained and prevented from spreading to other permanent structures in the area.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported during the incident.
