Mbappe Not In Top Five

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is not deemed good enough to be considered one of the top five best footballers in the world according to a ranking done by a UK publication, the Guardian Sports.

In the top ten ranking of the best footballers in 2024, the publication rated reigning Ballon d’Or winner Rodri ahead of Real Madrid sensation Vinicius Junior.

Below are the top ten best footballers in the world in 2024:

10. Kylian Mbappé

The French forward made headlines this summer with his move to Real Madrid, putting an end to years of speculation surrounding his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite facing scrutiny for not posting eye-catching statistics during the season, Mbappé proved his value by delivering crucial goals that secured both the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup for Los Blancos, demonstrating his ability to rise under pressure.

9. Dani Carvajal

In a year marked by success, the right-back enjoyed a historic campaign, helping Real Madrid clinch five prestigious trophies while also celebrating victory with Spain at the European Championship.

Carvajal emerged as a defensive rock for his team, playing a vital role in their journey through the tournament.

His season was punctuated by scoring his first international goal during Spain’s triumphant match against Croatia, solidifying his reputation as an indispensable member of the squad.

8. Florian Wirtz

The German midfielder shone brightly this season at Bayer Leverkusen, where he was instrumental in a record-breaking campaign under the guidance of Xabi Alonso.

Wirtz played a critical part in securing not only the German Super Cup but also the German Cup and Bundesliga title.

With an impressive tally of 11 goals, his contributions were a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s unbeaten run, showcasing his talent and potential on the field.

7. Lautaro Martínez

The captain of Inter Milan, Lautaro Martínez, enjoyed a spectacular year, emerging as the club’s standout player.

His leadership played a pivotal role in guiding his team to glory in the Italian Super Cup, Serie A, and the Copa América, where he showcased his impressive scoring ability, racking up 24 goals in the league and 5 in the Copa América.

His blend of skill and determination marked him as an essential figure in both club and international football.

6. Harry Kane

The England captain, now shining at Bayern Munich, continued his legacy of goalscoring brilliance, netting an astounding 44 goals in just 45 appearances for the German giants.

Kane made history by reaching an impressive total of 50 goals in the fewest number of matches, demonstrating his prowess in front of goal.

His influence extended to the international arena as well, where he played a crucial role in leading England to the finals of the Euros, showcasing his unwavering quality and importance to the team.

5. Jude Bellingham

The talented English midfielder made a seamless transition into Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical framework at Real Madrid.

Although his goalscoring rate has dipped compared to his explosive debut season, Bellingham has remained a key orchestrator for Madrid, balancing defensive responsibilities with a creative spark in attack.

His contributions were not limited to club football, as he also thrived internationally, helping England achieve a commendable runners-up finish in the Euros.

4. Lamine Yamal

At just 17 years old, the Spanish prodigy has captivated audiences with his extraordinary skill both at Barcelona’s La Masia and on the international stage.

Yamal played a vital role in Spain’s triumphant campaign at the Euros, even scoring his first goal in a major tournament.

While Barcelona may not have secured silverware this year, his undeniable talent solidified his place among the elite, ensuring that he is a name to watch in the future.

3. Erling Haaland

The Norwegian striker continues to rewrite the record books with his remarkable ability to find the back of the net.

Although his scoring figures this season may not have reached the unprecedented heights of previous campaigns, Haaland still stood tall at the top of the Premier League scoring charts.

Despite Manchester City’s collective struggles, he took it upon himself to drive the team forward, exhibiting resilience and determination.

2. Vinícius Júnior

The Brazilian winger was a prime contender for the Ballon d’Or, ultimately awarded to Rodri, yet he was recognized by FIFA as The Best.

Vinícius was instrumental in Real Madrid’s success, contributing significantly to their title wins throughout the season.

However, his performances on the international stage with Brazil did not match expectations, leaving a slight shadow over his otherwise stellar year.

1. Rodri

Spanish midfielder Rodri emerged as the heartbeat of Manchester City’s unprecedented season, playing an integral role in their dominance across both domestic and international competitions.

His contributions were not only vital to City’s successes but also pivotal in Spain’s European Championship victory.

While his Ballon d’Or triumph sparked debates regarding Vinícius’s worthy claim, Rodri’s exceptional performances throughout the year silenced critics and firmly established him atop the hierarchy of world football.
