English Premier League club, Manchester United has reportedly initiated a new pursuit for Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen as they aim to find a replacement for underperforming strikers Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee.
Henzodaily understands that the Red Devils moved to secure a transfer for the Nigerian international following keen interest from the newly appointed United manager, Ruben Amorim, who excluded both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from his squad for the recent Manchester derby.
The 25-year-old, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in exceptional form in Turkey, scoring ten goals and providing five assists in 13 matches across all competitions.
Nevertheless, Juventus seems to be in a favourable position to secure his services as they seek a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic. Reports suggest that the Serie A club may be Osimhen’s preferred choice, given his previous achievements in Italy.
Additionally, Manchester United faces stiff competition from fellow Premier League club Arsenal, with former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit advocating for his old team to pursue a January transfer for the Nigerian striker.
The situation is further complicated by Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, with Napoli director Giovanni Manna recently refuting rumors regarding a potential move in January.
“I already said many times that nobody has talked to us. Victor is owned by Napoli and currently playing for Galatasaray. I think a lot has been said about this; nothing is happening,” Manna told DAZN in a recent interview.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is keeping a close eye on developments and may pursue the Nigerian forward if Rashford, who has become a target for the French club, transfers from United.
Chelsea has also joined the competition for Osimhen, with reports indicating that the London team might present a more appealing option than United, considering their current progress.
The striker’s loan agreement with Turkish league leaders Galatasaray contains a break clause for January, which could allow for a transfer during the mid-season. However, his next club remains unclear due to interest from multiple prominent European teams.
