Liverpool could be without seven first-team stars for this weekend’s Merseyside derby with Everton.
The Reds take on their fierce rivals on Saturday afternoon for what represents the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
A win would see them extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League table.
But according to Mirror Football Arne Slot’s side will be required to win without a host of first-team players after injuries and suspensions started to bite. Alisson Becker, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota all remain sidelined.
Defenders Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley also missed the recent draw with Newcastle and look set to be absent once again this weekend.
Former Juventus forward Federico Chiesa has made his competitive return after appearing for the Reds’ under-21 side in a recent outing, but this weekend’s clash with Everton could potentially come too soon.
Also, Alexis Mac Allister will not play having been handed a Premier League suspension. His booking at St James’ Park sees him reach the five-booking threshold for a one-game suspension.
Mac Allister is also due to miss the Champions League trip to Girona next week having also been handed a UEFA ban. Liverpool boss Slot however does not believe that Liverpool’s defensive injuries are a reason they dropped points against Newcastle.
