Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Four Suspected Immigration Officers, Telco Official

Members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have reportedly claimed the lives of three suspected officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and an employee from a prominent telecommunications company in Nigeria.

Reports indicate that the assailants targeted a construction site in Gumki village, located within the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Henzodaily learnt that the victims were engaged in the installation of a surveillance mast for the NIS when the attack occurred, resulting in their deaths along with that of an unidentified individual.

While police reports identified three of the deceased as employees of Airtel, local residents contended that they were, in fact, immigration personnel.

A representative from Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital informed journalists that the three individuals admitted to the hospital were indeed immigration staff.

Conversely, the police public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, told Daily Trust that four individuals had died in the incident: one local resident and three Airtel employees.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, CP Bello M Sani, along with the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi State Command, CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali, promptly dispatched their teams to the scene to recover the bodies for transfer to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police has deployed additional tactical units to the region and instructed them to take decisive action against the suspected bandits operating in the vicinity.

He also convened a meeting with local residents, urging them to provide the police and other security agencies with pertinent information to facilitate timely responses.

Henzodaily understands that the ‘latest’ Lakurawa attack happened barely a week after the tragic killing of two police officers by the sect.
