Labour Party Is Open For Coalition

The House of Representatives member for Ikwuano/Umuahia Constituency, Obi Aguocha, has said the Labour Party is open for coalition if it would help the party achieve success.

The Labour Party lawmaker said he supports any plan to merge the party with any other like-minded group to save the country from the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

He stated this on Monday in an interview with Arise TV.

Aguocha recalled that APC was a coalition and was formed to take power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He emphasized that what is important is to save the country from its current situation. He decried insecurity, hardship, hunger and unemployment the citizens face every day due to APC’s government’s policies.

“We are a political platform. We are interested in wrestle power from APC so that we can restore hope and opportunity for the Nigerian people. So that we can ensure there is adequate security, to be able to ensure that people can wake up in the morning, rather than go through hunger and high inflation, children go to school and don’t have an opportunity to be gainfully employed. Nobody is happy, even the APC people are not happy with the situation of things in Nigeria,” he said.

Speaking on the coalition, the Abia State lawmaker continued, “If we have to form a coalition to ensure we have the adequate provisions in place to achieve a political success, why not? After all APC was a coalition that subscribed to an ideology that wrestled power from PDP.

“So I do not see it extraordinary that if Labour Party comes together with some other like-minded Nigerians who are committed and determined to do the right thing for once in Nigeria, then why not?”
