The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has announced plan to commence degree programmes.
Rector of the pioneer tertiary institution in the state, Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed disclosed this during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin.
Muhammad said preparations were in top gear at the institution towards the commencement of the degree programmes which he said would be run in affiliation with the University of Ilorin.
He expressed optimism that his institution’s affiliation arrangements with the University of Ilorin would help reduce the university admission problem in the state and provide more opportunities for young people to access quality education.
“The proposed degree programmes, which are expected to take off soon, will be run in affiliation with the University of Ilorin, and will provide students with the opportunity to earn university degrees in various fields.
“The partnership is seen as a significant step towards expanding access to quality education in the state. And preparation for the take-off of 13 new degree programmes at the Kwara State Polytechnic, the University of Ilorin Affiliation team has conducted a resource inspection to assess the facilities and resources available in the Polytechnic, as part of the requirements for affiliation with the university,” he said.
The rector said that the the University of Ilorin affiliation team, led by Prof. Yahaya Imam appreciated the Polytechnic for considering an affiliation with the university.
He added that the team lead commended the polytechnic’s management for taking the initiative to expand its academic programmes.
