Kano Assembly Speaker Hails Appeal Court Victory For Emir Sanusi

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, has described the Appeal Court ruling favouring Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as a triumph of justice for the Kano Emirate.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Falgore lauded the judgment as a resolution to a prolonged legal battle that threatened to undermine the unity and dignity of the historic Kano throne.

Henzodaily had earlier reported that the Appeal Court dismissed a fundamental human rights suit filed by Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, a former contender for the Emirship. The court’s decision, Falgore said, reinforces the judiciary’s commitment to justice and fair adjudication in matters of traditional leadership.

“This ruling is not just a win for Emir Sanusi but also a reaffirmation of the legal framework governing the Kano Emirate Council and its autonomy in managing chieftaincy affairs,” Falgore stated.

The case has been remanded to the Chief Judge of the Kano State High Court for further hearings and a final judgment. The Speaker expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to uphold justice throughout the process.

Previously, the Kano State High Court had issued an order restraining Aminu Ado Bayero and four other former emirs from making claims to the Emirship position.
