The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has given an order for the immediate rehabilitation of public schools in the Kabusa community of Abuja.
Wike, who lamented the dilapidated nature of the structures, said if President Bola Tinubu sees the status of the schools, he would lose his job as a Minister.
Henzodaily reports Wike gave the directive on Tuesday during the flag-off of rehabilitation works on the 9.8km Kabusa–Takushara road in Abuja.
He said the school structures are not fit for a place where children can come to acquire knowledge, hence the need for immediate rehabilitation to make it befitting.
In his words, “They said this is a school, is it not? Is it a school?
“My brother I no go lie, I will not accept this as a school for our people to have quality education and therefore, there will be immediate upgrading of this school to be what a school is supposed to be.
“I’m sure if Mr President comes here and sees that this is the school our children are learning [in], I will lose my job. And I don’t want to lose my job and therefore, this school we are going to make it to be happy to be what a proper school is supposed to be and under emergency, we must put the school back to what a school is supposed to be.”
He added that with how God has blessed the country, the citizens and children must not suffer. Wike asked Nigerians to pray for Tinubu’s administration in its efforts to make life better for Nigerians.
