Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, has opened up on how he fought hard to win his wife, Busola’s love.
The ‘Iyawo mi’ crooner in an interview with Pulse disclosed that he met his wife in church, but she did not show interest in having a romantic relationship with him but he kept at it with her and eventually won her heart.
He also revealed how his wife usually feels embarrassed whenever he picks her up with the branded Picanto he won from the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
He said, “I met my wife in the church. I went to her and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number but wasn’t picking up the phone when I called. I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why was she not picking my calls and she said her phone got stolen.
“I sympathised with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to be embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
Recall, Dakolo and his wife, Busola tied the knot in 2012, and has three children together.
