Greenwood Wins Getafe Player Of The Season Award

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has won Getafe Player of the Season award.

Greenwood scored 10 goals in 36 appearances during his loan spell with Getafe as he returned to professional football following his suspension by United in January 2022

The 22-year-old was suspended by United amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

A lengthy investigation followed, before the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped all charges against Greenwood in February 2023.

ManchesterWorld understand the working assumption is Greenwood will be sold this summer with interest high in the academy product.

His sale would provide a sizeable boost to complying with Financial Fair Play regulations given that it would be considered pure profit.

After Greenwood’s loan spell with Getafe came to an end, he took to social media to thank the La Liga club for their support.

He wrote on Instagram: “Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club. A bittersweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”

Greenwood is contracted to United until the summer of 2025. It remains to be seen whether or not he will be invited back to the club’s pre-season preparations.
