Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed delight at visiting Ghana’s President-elect, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of his inauguration as President on Tuesday.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Governor Oborevwori joined a team of Governors from Nigeria to congratulate and rejoice with President-elect Mahama on Monday.
In a terse statement on his official Facebook page, following the visit, Oborevwori expressed confidence that the visit will enhance the bilateral relations between Nigeria and Ghana and also strengthen the ties between both countries.
“It was a privilege to pay a courtesy visit to the President-elect of Ghana, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, earlier today alongside my brother governors.
“This visit will enhance the bilateral relations between our states and, by extension, strengthen the ties between our beloved country, Nigeria and our sister nation, Ghana. Congratulations once again to the President-elect,” the Delta State Governor wrote.
Speaking while receiving the Governors, Mahama expressed optimism in working together to see how both countries can bring the already existing relationship even closer together.
“I always say Ghana and Nigeria are like twins from the same mother. So, we have to continue to work to bring ourselves as close as possible.
“We will not only fight over jollof and football. We will also fight to improve trade between our two countries.
“Luckily, I have a very good relationship with President Tinubu because I have known him since before I became Vice President. So, it is only natural that we can work together to make things work,” Mahama said.
