Barely two years after his election as governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has said that plans have been concluded to stage the much-anticipated ‘Happy Hour’ he promised the people of the State in the build-up to the 2023 polls.
The event, expected to be a mixed grill of music, entertainment, assorted drinks and food fair tagged; ‘ARISE Happy Hour’ LEADERSHIP learnt, would also feature sundry awards and laurels of excellence for loyal and dedicated civil servants in various fields including sports.
Chairman of the Organising Committee and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, said the event billed for the state’s Amphitheater, Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, would have the highlife maestro, Flavour Nabania, entertaining guests during the evening show.
According to the SSG, the best civil servants in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), would smile home with N1million each.
He said: “The Akwa Ibom state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, is set to host an electrifying ARISE Happy Hour and Evening of Rewards, a night of music, recognition, and celebration, featuring a special live performance by Africa’s highlife king, Flavour.
“It’s going to be an exciting evening led by the governor, and is designed to provide top-notch entertainment while showcasing the administration’s unwavering commitment to empowering and rewarding the people of Akwa Ibom for their hard work.
“The governor will honour and reward individuals and groups who have excelled in their respective fields, with a special focus on female youths, recognised as the state’s greatest cheerleaders in its support structure,” the SSG stated.
Highlights of the event include the disbursement of N300 million to 400 trained female youths and Ladies in White under the Ibom LED Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme, with each beneficiary receiving N750,000.
“The best-performing local government areas from Christmas Unplugged 2024 will be recognised and rewarded.
“50 winners of the Arise Home Farmers Scheme (AHFS) will each receive a ₦500,000 grant. Outstanding athletes from the 2024 Governor’s Cup will also be honored with special rewards.
“Best civil servants in all MDAs nominated at the December Ministerial Briefings will receive a N1 million reward from the governor in recognition of their dedication and excellence,” he added.
