Former United States President Hospitalised

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, on Monday afternoon following a fever, according to his spokesperson, Angel Urena.

“The president is fine,” Urena stated during an interview with CNN, adding that Clinton remains optimistic about returning home in time for Christmas. “He is in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving.”

The 78-year-old former president was at his Washington residence when he was taken to the hospital.

An aide confirmed to CNN that Clinton is “awake and alert” but is expected to stay overnight for further observation.

News of Clinton’s hospitalization quickly spread through his extensive network of former staff and allies. A close associate emphasized that his condition is “not urgent or dire by any means.”

Over the years, Clinton has faced multiple health challenges since leaving office nearly 25 years ago. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery, followed by treatment for a partially collapsed lung in 2005. In 2010, two stents were placed in his coronary artery.

More recently, in 2021, he was hospitalized for six days in Los Angeles.
