Flogging Children: Why My Child Broke MY TV Three Times

Nigeria Comedian, Bovi Ugboma, known by his stage name, Bovi, has disclosed that his child, who broke his television three times, has speech and communication problems.

Henzodaily reported that the stand-up comedian, Bovi, in an interview, advised against flogging children for doing wrong.

He claimed that flogging a child for doing wrong could be for the fun of it or expressing frustration on the child and not correction.

In the interview, he referenced that his child broke his television three times and he did not punish the child.

Bovi’s view on how to correct a child spiked criticism from Nigerian netizens, including his fans.

On his X handle, Bovi defended his stance, noting that his father did not flog him, yet he turned out successful in life.

“I don go trigger angry people because of the phrase I used. “For the fun of it”. Make una no vex. In trying to color my point, I’ve offended a shallow mob. You don’t have to agree with me. If you have children you want to beat, enjoy. My papa no physically beat me and I turned out almost ok (sic),” he wrote.

One of his fans, Mayowa Adedeji, in the comment section, told him that his child breaking his television three times showed his mode of discipline was wrong and not working.

“If your child has to break 3 TVs, it only mean your technique is not working, no one is talking about beating a child here,” Adedeji wrote.

In response, Bovi said, “My child had a speech impediment and a communication problem that’s only just starting to improve.“
