FG Okays N242.68bn For 14 Key Road Projects

The federal government has approved N242.68 billion for the rescoping, rehabilitating, and construction of 14 critical road projects across various states.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Tuesday after the federal executive council presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Umahi, the approvals align with the administration’s policy of reviewing and prioritising ongoing inherited projects under the Renewed Hope agenda.

He provided a breakdown of the projects and their allocations: Agaie-Katcha-Baro Road, Niger State – N22 billion Contractor: Messers GR Building Construction Limited.

“Odukpani Junction (Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja Road), Cross River State – N26.335 billion Contractor: Samatech.”

“Ajaokuta-Ajibo Road and Iyana Mosa Road, Ogun State – N10.89 billion.Contractor: Messers HM Construction Limited.

“Inoma-Iyaka-Abaji Section of Ibaji-Odulu-Ajibu Road, Anambra State – N9.33 billion Contractor: Niger Cat”

”Umuahia-Ituano-Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia Emudike Section – N14.37 billion.Contractor: Heartland Reckon Construction Company.

”Kaduna-Jos Road (Phase One), Kaduna and Plateau States – N33.423 billion.Contractor: Setraco. “Yola-Fufure Road, Adamawa State – N11.81 billion Contractor: WisChina Worldwide Engineering Limited.

“Ijebu-Ibutita Ebe Road, Ogun State – ₦13 billion

Contractor: Aretha Construction Limited.” “Amido Road, Taraba State – ₦7.68 billion.Contractor: Messers Mode Limited.

“Nkomoro-Isu Road, Enugu and Ebonyi States – ₦14.49 billion
Contractor: Arab Contractors.

“Aba-Owerri Road Dualization via Ikot Ekpene Border – ₦11.55 billion
Contractor: Arab Contractors”

“Gashua-Bayamari Road (Section Two), Yobe State – ₦9.68 billion
Contractor: Messers Wick Rock.

“Ikorodu-Shagamu Road (Phase One of Lagos-Ibadan Road) – ₦27.59 billion.Contractor: Arab Contractors.

“Remaining Sections of Lagos-Ibadan Road – ₦30 billion
Contractor: RCC”

Additionally, Umahi said the council approved ₦7 billion for rescoping the AK Bypass by Ghitto Construction Limited.

However, he said a proposal for the construction of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FEMA) headquarters was withdrawn pending further research and review.

Umahi emphasised the urgency of completing major roads by April, including the Lagos-Ibadan Road, to meet commissioning deadlines.
