Explosions Rock Zamfara’s Dansadau District, Third Incident In A Week

Not less than two explosive devices went off at separate locations in the Dansadau District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, marking the third incident of explosive attacks in the area within a week.

According to reports, the explosions occurred simultaneously on the Dansadau-Malamawa road and the Malele road on Friday.

A resident, Nuhu Babangida who spoke with Daily Trust, recounted how passengers in a Canter truck narrowly escaped death when the vehicle, loaded with grains and heading to the Dansadau weekly market, triggered one of the devices.

Babangida said, “The explosions on Malamawa and Malele roads went off at the same time, but fortunately, there were no casualties.”

The region has witnessed a string of explosive attacks recently. On Wednesday morning, 12 people were feared dead after a bomb detonated on a bridge at Yar Tasha village.

Witnesses reported that the device exploded around 8 a.m. when a commercial driver conveying passengers to Dansadau town unknowingly ran over it.

Similarly, last Sunday, an 18-seater bus triggered another explosive device suspected to have been planted by bandits, killing the driver, who was the sole occupant.

The repeated incidents have raised concerns about the growing insecurity in Zamfara State, with locals fearing that the planting of explosives along major roads is a deliberate strategy by bandits to disrupt movement and spread fear.
