Enugu government honours Junior Pope with posthumous award

The Enugu State Government has honoured deceased Nollywood actor Junior Pope with a posthumous award at an event organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

It would be recalled that Nollywood actor Junior Pope and four crew members drowned on April 10 after their boat capsized in a river near Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State, while returning from the movie set, ‘The Other Side of Life’, produced by Adanma Luke.

Movie producer Nani Boi made this known after sharing the news on Instagram, where he described the late actor’s legacy as enduring.

Nani Boi wrote, “Posthumous award to the late great Junior Pope. Forever Green In Our Hearts. Thanks to the Enugu State Government via the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Junior Pope lives on.”

The award is part of the inaugural Nollywood Legends Awards, which aims to honour the industry’s late stars and living legends.

Other late stars nominated include John Okafor (Mr. Ibu), Enebeli Elebuwa, Sam Loco, Saint Obi, Moji Olaiya, Ada Ameh and Muna Obiekwe.
