DSS Arrests Blogger For Cloning Official Website, Defrauding Job Seekers

The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a 32-year-old blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, for allegedly cloning its official website to orchestrate a fake recruitment scheme.

Henzodaily learnt that the suspect, identified as a content creator and graduate of the University of Uyo, was arrested at his residence on Akpan Eno Street, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday.

According to the DSS, Augustus created a counterfeit version of its official website to advertise a fictitious recruitment drive.

The scheme targeted unsuspecting individuals with the promise of job opportunities.

It reportedly involved soliciting payments from job seekers under the pretence of processing their applications.

The DSS had earlier issued a disclaimer, categorically discrediting the recruitment announcement as a scam and urging the public to disregard it.

A DSS source, speaking to Vanguard on Friday morning, confirmed the arrest and stated, “The suspect is currently in custody and will soon be arraigned in court.”

In other news, the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers in relation to the viral video of naira abuse involving the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Rasaq Okoya.

The Police, in a statement sighted by Henzodaily, said the officer involved has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.

The Force added that the involvement of the policeman is unethical and contrary to the values of the Police.
