COPAN Urges Tinubu To Extend Customs CG’s Tenure

The Conference of Patriotic Nigerians (COPAN) has called on President Bola Tinubu to extend the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (CGC) Segun Adeniyi, citing his remarkable achievements in transforming the agency.

Speaking after COPAN’s agency evaluation meeting in Abuja, Barrister Uchenna Odieli commended the CGC for his transformative agenda, which has enhanced revenue generation, fostered inclusive administration, and expedited customs transactions at Nigeria’s ports.

According to Odieli, the CGC’s tenure has been marked by transparency in auctions, the seizure of illegal arms at border points and seaports, including Idi-Iroko and Onne, and significant capacity building among customs officers and personnel.

“Such exemplary service to the nation is a shining example of dedication, perseverance, and patriotism,” Odieli remarked, emphasising that Nigerians were grateful for the CGC’s laudable contributions.

He highlighted the CGC’s extensive experience, including his tenure as a former image maker of the service, which has contributed to his success in office.

COPAN stressed that the CGC’s distinguished service has earned him a place among the most revered individuals in Nigeria’s history.

His relentless dedication, the group noted, is worthy of emulation by current and future generations.

The group urged President Tinubu to allow the CGC to continue his giant strides, stating that his extended stay in office could further enhance revenue and productivity for the country.

“We are calling on the President to recognise the CGC’s tremendous impact and ensure he remains in office to sustain this momentum,” COPAN said.
