Chukwueze’s Milan Beat Juventus To Reach Italian Super Cup Final

AC Milan recorded a 2-1 comeback win against Juventus in the semi-final of the Italian Super Cup on Friday.

Samuel Chukwueze was not for Milan as he is currently sidelined due to injury.

Juventus took the lead with the player who was not meant to start, as Kenan Yildiz ran into a huge gap down the right on the Samuel Mbangula through ball and smashed his finish into the near top corner with his right foot.

Youssouf Fofana fired wide from the edge of the D, but Mike Maignan also got down to palm a Kenan Yildiz snapshot away from the near post. Straight after the restart, the Kenan Yildiz angled drive flashed across the face of goal and the Juventus Number 10 rolled across for Dusan Vlahovic to turn wide.

Milan should’ve equalised on 55 minutes when a corner was flicked on, but Theo Hernandez incredibly ballooned over the bar unmarked from 12 yards.

Federico Gatti did just enough to stop Alex Jimenez’s back-heel flick sending Christian Pulisic through, but then the Spaniard went off injured.

Michele Di Gregorio smothered the Tijjani Reijnders strike and Nicolò Savona made a great tackle on Theo Hernandez running onto the long Maignan ball, but as the move continued, Manuel Locatelli brought down Pulisic for a penalty. The USMNT star converted, despite Di Gregorio getting a hand to it.

Milan were suddenly revitalised and Alvaro Morata sent Weston McKennie to ground, forcing a desperate block in the six-yard box.

Juve also crumbled, as we’ve seen so many times this season, and the Rossoneri turned the game around completely within four minutes. Musah ran onto the ball down the right and was trying to cross for Tammy Abraham, but it struck Federico Gatti and surprised Di Gregorio at the near post, where the goalkeeper had rushed off his line.

Di Gregorio did better making the decisive block on Pulisic after Abraham sparked a rapid counter-attack, while the Teun Koopmeiners free kick was straight at Maignan.

The last kick of the game saw a Kenan Yildiz cross nodded down for the Gatti volley wide of the near post, possibly with the aid of a Matteo Gabbia block.

Milan will face Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana Final on Monday evening, while Juventus return home after their second competitive defeat of the season.
