Businessman Threatens Lawsuit Against Cross River Lawmaker Over Power Generating Sets

A businessman, Mr.Ade Adetunji, has threatened to slam a lawsuit against the member representing Yakurr 1 State
constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Cyril Omni, if he fails to hand over two power generating sets, which he (Adetunji) bought from Yakurr local government area community stakeholders last year at the sum of N58m.

The businessman disclosed this on Monday while expressing his displeasure on the ill-treatment meted to him by the lawmaker and his supporters.

He warned that failure to return the two power generators to him would amount to a legal action against the lawmaker and everyone involved in the transaction so that justice can prevail.

Adetunji urged the lawmaker and those involved in the transaction to hand over the items, which he genuinely paid for to him, so that peace can reign.

“I won’t relent until I get justice for it. We started this matter in November 2023, and we are still on it. It’s over a year. All I am asking
for is for them to hand over the property I bought from them with my hard earned money to me.

“The scrap generator issue had given me mental torture; I had never had this kind of terrible experience since I began doing business.

“I had never seen a thing like this. It’s difficult to believe that someone can connive with other individuals who supposed to be like custodians of the law to take over a property which I had already paid for to deprive me my of my right,” he said.

Findings, however, revealed that the Nigeria Police Force (Zonal Monitoring Unit Zone 6 Headquarters Calabar) revealed that those involved in the matter include, Mr Cyril Omini, Etim Bassey, Bassey Antigha, and Martins Asuquo-Edet, an immediate-past director general Scrap Regulatory Agency with the Cross River State government.
