Burna Boy dragged ruthlessly for storming out of stage during #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 performance

Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, Dami Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy has come under heavy backlash for leaving the stage during his performance at the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 on Tuesday night.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Wizkid, Burna Boy and some other Nigerian A-list artistes, on Wednesday at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square, left their fans in awe as they gave mind-blowing performances during the Greater Lagos Countdown to usher in the  New Year.

The event, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture was an unforgettable night of music, excitement, and celebration.

However, in a video that has become a growing sensation, a fan was seen jumping on stage to approach Burna Boy who was performing but the singer, pushed the fan away. This is after a Security personnel swiftly intervened, throwing the fan off the stage, while the artist briefly paused his performance.

Moments later, Burna Boy was seen leaving the stage without any prior announcement or explanation, leaving fans shocked and disappointed.

The singer’s action have sparked an outrafe with many accusing the singer of unprofessionalism, others attributed his action to arrogance.

A user on X, bra MaL, who tweets as #ibrahimmalcolm, attributed the singer’s actions to pride, stating, “Just pride and arrogance, somewhat disrespect to the very audience he’s ‘performing’ for.”

Another user, Mezia Abia, tweeting as #MeziaAbia, wrote, “If not pride, what is it? Hold on a second. Someone paid you for a show, you delivered your own side of the job halfway because a fan jumped on the stage to touch you.

“I’m yet to understand the rationale behind him leaving the stage in such an awful way. Does Burna Boy not get touched by humans?”

Kodark Taylor, tweeting as #KodarkTayl69356, added, “Very rude guy.”

However, some netizens defended Burna Boy, blaming fans for repeatedly ignoring his warnings against jumping on stage during his performances.

Chukwudi Emmanuel, tweeting as #LoganSaman50828, commented, “Why people no dey hear word! En don talk am severally, make dem no try dey jump on stage when en dey there. Why people no dey hear word? En get luck say no be uppercut dem give am.”

Another user, MANDU RIO 𓃵 tweeting as #_MrPreye stated, “Folks don’t learn. Stop jumping on stage. Fans love, yes. Respect Yourself enough to stay put.”
