Brown Ideye Set To Snub Rivers United For Enyimba

Former Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye is on the brink of finalizing a transfer to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Enyimba FC.

Reports from ACL Sports indicate that Brown Ideye has engaged in productive discussions with the management of the People’s Elephant about a potential switch to the club, which is one of the most successful teams in Nigerian football history.

The 36-year-old striker had previously been linked with a move to Rivers United, another prominent NPFL side. However, that transfer faltered due to an inability to reach a mutually beneficial agreement between the player and the club.

Since leaving Kuwaiti club Al Yarmouk in 2022, Ideye has been a free agent, seeking a new opportunity to revitalize his career in Nigeria.

Recall that the former Nigeria international was a vital part of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa, solidifying his status as a celebrated footballer in Nigerian sports history.

Throughout his professional career, Brown Ideye has showcased his talent across several prestigious leagues, having played in France, Ukraine, England, Greece, and Switzerland.

As he prepares for this new chapter with Enyimba, fans and analysts alike are keenly anticipating how his addition will impact the club’s fortunes in the NPFL this season.

Note that Enyimba who are the only Nigerian side on the continent this season, are currently occupying the 8th spot on the league table with 21 points in 13 games. They currently have three games in hand.
