Bayer Leverkusen Coach Gives Update On Victor Boniface’s Injury

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is on the cusp of returning to competitive action after a frustrating period on the sidelines due to injury.

Victor Boniface, 24, who has been a key player for Die Werkself this season, sustained a thigh injury while representing Nigeria during international duty last November.

This injury set him back significantly, and he encountered a further complication in his recovery process late last year, raising concerns about when he would be able to make his comeback.

However, Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, has recently provided an optimistic update on Boniface’s recovery. He indicated that there is a possibility that the striker could be fit to return as early as next week, though he tempered expectations by stating that this timeline remains uncertain.

“Maybe next week, but only maybe,” Alonso mentioned. “There is still a question mark over his readiness. He is on the right path and starting to feel better, but after that, he will need adequate training time to regain his match fitness.”

In the current season, Victor Boniface has made a significant impact with Leverkusen, netting eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his importance to the team’s attack.

Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis is drawing attention from a variety of clubs across different leagues, including the Sky Bet Championship, La Liga, and Serie A. The 27-year-old is eager to revive his career after a challenging six months of inactivity following his exit from Nottingham Forest, where he was deemed surplus to requirements last summer.

Despite his desire for a fresh start, Dennis struggled to finalize a move away from the Premier League side during the transfer window. However, according to reports from Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest are now open to considering both loan and permanent offers for the talented striker.

Dennis originally joined the club from a Sky Bet Championship team, Watford, in 2022, and now he is hopeful that a move to a new club will help him rediscover his form and contribute significantly on the pitch once again.
