Akwa United face the risk of relegation to the second-tier league, the NNL, if they fail to turn their season around during the remaining 21 rounds of matches.

Meanwhile, the organisers of the domestic top-flight league have rescheduled the club’s matchday 18 fixture against Heartland to Monday, 23 December 2024.
The Promise Keepers endured a challenging first half of the season, registering just four wins in 17 games, and they currently sit at the bottom of the table with only 16 points.
“This is very strange, and the players will have to redouble their efforts to ensure we pick up the pieces and restore the club to its pride of place on the log,” Abdullahi stated.

Akwa United are winless in their last three games and desperately need a victory against Heartland in their upcoming matchday 18 clash.
Completesports.com understands that the NPFL rescheduled the game due to the unavailability of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday, 22 December 2024. Reports indicate that a government programme at the venue clashed with the original match date.
