AFCON 2025: Le Roy Names Super Eagles Among Title Favourites

Former Cameroon head coach Claude Le Roy has picked Nigeria’s Super Eagles among the favourites to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles finished second at the last edition of the competition, losing 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final.

The West Africans are one of the most successful sides in the history of the competition having won the title three times.

Le Roy, who guided Cameroon to AFCON success in 1988 believed the Super Eagles can win the title again.

“We must also be careful with South Africa, which continues to progress thanks to a very good coach. Cameroon is also one of the competitors who are always difficult to beat.”

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C with Tunisia Uganda and Tanzania.

Eric Chelle’s side will face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their opening fixture in Fez on Tuesday, December 23.
