The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu for Foreign Affairs and Protocol, Ademola Oshodi, has said West Africa was necessary for the region’s development.
Ademola Oshodi said West African nations are challenged by poverty, insecurity and poor development. He explained that the region must have a united front to address the challenges.
He stated this while speaking on the importance of the last 64th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in Abuja.
He emphasized that the summit was unique as it provided an opportunity for ECOWAS to strengthen its unity and present a cohesive front in tackling shared challenges.
“From the ongoing political tensions in member states to the need for economic cooperation, the discussions at the summit underscored the importance of collaboration for the collective progress of West Africa. A united front is not just ideal, it is essential for sustainable progress.
“Ecowas needs a united front to tackle its challenges, insecurity, poverty and development. So the summit was to address the challenges with the leadership of the chairm, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria Ecowas is in unity for peace and development of the region,” he said.
