It Is Hard Time To Demolish Someone’s House

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement, Abiodun Essiet, has condemned the ongoing demolition of houses in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the Nyesom Wike-led administration.

The Tinubu’s aide on Community Engagement (North Central, including Abuja) said the citizens of Nigeria are faced with harsh economic realities.

Mrs. Abiodun noted that demolishing or taking over anybody’s house with the current state of hardship in the country was uncalled for.

In a brief post on her X handle, President Tinubu’s aide called for negotiation and deliberate dialogue.

“This is a hard time for someone’s house to be demolished or taken over. The Lands Department of Federal Capital Territory Administration needs to engage the citizens in deliberate dialogue,” she wrote.

Henzodaily reported that Wike had on Thursday said no amount of media or activist pressure, or blackmail would make him stop demolishing marked houses.

He stated this while handing over vehicles to security agencies in Abuja.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell Nigerians and residents of Abuja, we are not afraid of blackmailing.

“In fact, you cannot be in this kind of position and say you cannot be blackmailed particularly as regards this Abuja. There are so many land grabbers. Some of us have come to put our feet down. Let heaven fall. It is even better that heaven comes down now so that we would not be fasting again to go to heaven,” he said.
