Why I Listen More To Nigeria Music Than Ghana Music -Leverkusen Star, Frimpong

Bayer Leverkusen star forward has explained why he listens more to Nigeria music than Ghanaian music.

Speaking in an interview with Nigerian journalist, Oma Akatugba, after Leverkusen’s 1-0 win against Inter Milan in Tuesday’s Champions League game, Frimpong admitted Nigeria has too many good musicians.

“I listen to both (Nigerian and Ghanaian music) but Nigerian music is top, you guys have too many good musicians,” Frimpong said.

When asked who his favourite Nigeian musician is, the Netherlands international said:”It’s difficult to name my favourite Nigerian musician, right now Asake is good, I went to his concert, it was top. Youve got Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido…there’s too many.”

Born in the Netherlands, Frimpong is of Ghanaian descent.

His family moved to England when he was seven years old, so he was eligible to play for the Netherlands, Ghana, and England.

The 24-year-old represented the Netherlands at U-19 youth international level, and made his international debut against Armenia U-19 in November 2018, and in November 2019, he made his U-20 debut.

In 2023 he made his debut for the Netherlands senior men’s national team and has scored one goal in 10 appearances.

In November 2022, Frimpong was included in the final selection of the Netherlands team for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, but did not make any appearance.
