Social media commentator, Martins Ortse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has denied allegations of threatening the life of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the revocation of a land belonging to the family of the late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor.
The controversy began after a video circulated online claiming that Wike had revoked the property, which was allocated to the Ogbebor family in 1981.
Following this, a WhatsApp broadcast message emerged, alleging that VeryDarkMan had issued a threat against the minister’s life.
Reacting to the claims, VeryDarkMan took to Instagram to refute the accusations, stressing that he has never engaged in or endorsed any form of violence or threats.
“I did not threaten Nyesom Wike’s life. I am not associated with the WhatsApp broadcast making the rounds,” he stated firmly.
VDM explained that his only intention was to advocate for fairness, urging Wike to reconsider the land’s revocation by reviewing the supporting documents provided by the late Colonel’s family.
“I was only appealing to the minister to take a second look at the land documents presented by the sons and families of the late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor, a war veteran and the first cadet of the NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy) with code 001. All the land documents and allocations are genuine,” he asserted.
He further clarified that someone had edited his video, adding a misleading caption to suggest he had issued a threat.
“There is this particular land I posted on WhatsApp regarding the land that Wike revoked. Someone edited my video with a new caption, making it look like I’m the one who did it. Please, I’m not associated with threatening anybody’s life; it’s not in my character or nature,” he said.
VeryDarkMan reiterated that his platform is dedicated to advocating for justice and supporting oppressed individuals, emphasizing that he has never resorted to threats or intimidation in his activism.
“What I do with my platform is to speak up for people who are oppressed and seek justice when they are in the right part of the law. I have never threatened anybody’s life before, so imagine that they will now claim I’m threatening Wike.
“The only thing I did in that video was to plead that he could take a second look at those people’s documents because they are the sole owners of that land,” he concluded.
