Tinubu Appoints Ogunjimi As Acting Accountant-General Of The Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).

Henzodaily understands that the appointment takes effect immediately following the pre-retirement leave of the outgoing AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.

In a statement on the leadership change, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of continuity in managing the nation’s treasury.

He described Ogunjimi’s appointment as part of his administration’s strategy to strengthen financial governance and advance ongoing treasury policy reforms.

Speaking on the appointment, President Tinubu said, “The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations. Mr. Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda.”

The president also commended the outgoing AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, for her dedication and contributions to Nigeria’s financial system.

Dr. Madein, who will officially retire on March 7, 2025, was praised for her role in strengthening financial oversight and management during her tenure.

Who is Shamseldeen Ogunjimi?

Mr. Ogunjimi, a veteran civil servant, is currently the most senior director in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).

With over 30 years of experience in financial management, he has held several key positions, including Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

His academic and professional credentials are equally impressive. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.

In addition, he is a chartered accountant, a certified fraud examiner, a chartered stockbroker, and a chartered security and investment specialist.
